Monitor calibration quandry

Does anybody use monitor calibration hardware? I'm sick of the mismatching between monitor ( CRT still lives here) & the Epson R1800 and almost had it licked in XP..now after the change to Vista business OS it's back to ground zero again. Yes, I've got the latest drivers and hunted up icc profiles.
I'm been reluctant to dole out $150+ for Spyder or Eye-One Display, but the Huey tempts me with it's price:

Anyone use this puppy? I used to run Adobe Gamma, but it's primarily an eyeball app..so I'm wondering if a sensor can do better.

Hey, be careful how far you go in adapting your computer to Vista, I just got word that MSN, the owner of Vista is dumping Vista due to the large volume of complaints about it. Just what they are going to replace it with I'm not exactly sure of. They are3 considering puting out a new version of Vista with a wholoe lot of improvements to it. I'll keep you posted on what's happening.

I just saw an ad on TV for Winsdows 7, it starts at $1399. I don't think I'll be buying it.
