Goodbye Ollie...

My personal memory of it sticks at March 25th, but the 'on record' date varies from March 26th -28th 1997.
Our family went to the multi-plex ( no stadium seating or digital back then) and the kiddies & other half were happily entertained. I was enchanted. Cats Don't Dance had the two elements I love most.. musical numbers and funny animals that had wonderful character designs..and it wasn't even Disney or Bluth.
I think I did manage a second look without the family and wanted to see it again, but the theater run was so short it was gone like the wind inside a couple of weeks. Crap! Still there was another chance to find out more since we had just signed on for internet service. At least that what I thought. W.B. had the official site up at that time and while it was cool, there was no way for fans to interact with it.
I'd seen other movie 'fan sites' in cruising the net and hoped in somebody would do the same for CDD. In the meantime I was trying to relearn drawing and try that newfangled Painter 3 software the other
half got for me because I loved CDD characters (especially Danny) and making pics of them was a blast. Months went by and still no CDD fan sites. My other half was just getting into html at the time so...
Unofficial CDD made it's internet debut. Scary huh.

I gotta say it's still a fun ride even to this day, hope others have enjoyed it too.
Unofficial CDD was updated this month so wander by and check out it out. For those who like a little nostalgia, I've posted CDD material from the now defunct Sue's Rock Animation Archives - and yes I got Sue's blessing on that. I'd also like to thank these deviants for helping out with the 'Silly Love Songs' and general fan art page.

Just a quick reminder that the deadline for the 'Silly Love Songs' project is on the doorstep, - Sun. the 25th by midnight. If there's folks that are almost done and just need a wee bit more time, drop me an email at catsdontdsnce@comcast.net and let me know.
I will also be working on an update for the Unofficial Cats Don't Dance fansite this week so if anyone has CDD fan art or fiction now is the time to send it in. You can note me here or at the email above.
Should be nice lil update this time around, some new fanfiction, the 'Love Songs' project, some more production art stuff. And maybe some more CDD fan art from a deviant or two? <

2/23 - AANNNDD THAT's A WRAP!

" You think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.
I look around me and I see it isn't so.
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs.
Well what's wrong with that?
I'd like to know.
Cause here we go again...."

On to the first CDD fan project of 2007, that I've dubbed 'Silly Love Songs'.
Instead of a single pic for Valentines Day, I thought it might be fun if we illustrated our favorite love songs using at least one of the CDD cast members. The basic rules are :
Aside from the one CDD character you are free to cast any other toon or fan character you like, as many as you like.
Your song must be a love song, although it doesn't matter what genre - like from country to hip hop, or emotional content it's in...can be as silly, mushy, angsty or profound as you like.
You must include a piece of the lyrics in your image, preferably one that enhances the visual and that does NOT have profanity.
Most importantly..have fun with this. There's so many musical tastes that the possibilites are endless.
Deadline is Feb. 25th, and shortly thereafter your pics will be in separate gallery at Unofficial CDD.
